Customize  / Transaction Settings / Transactions

This section contains the options for tailoring the transaction process to your needs.

Save Customer Check information? - If checked, the system will prompt you to enter information such as forms of customer identification and more and will save this information for review. If you accept a lot of checks and get some that bounce regularly, you may wish to use this.

Ask for clerk at time of invoice? - When an invoice is completed at the workscreen the system can ask for the clerk who is completing the transaction (handling the money).  Don't confuse this with your technicians.  The system can track every service you do and prompt for the technician.  Ask for Clerk sole purpose is to track who is tendering the money.

Force New Clerk/Password after each sale? - This will force the clerk to enter his/her ID and password after each sale, before they can use the work screen.  If you plan to use this option, make certain that all employees who will ring sales have a security level lower than 99.

Ask Quantity when loading Parts on invoice? - As you sell parts the system can "prompt" you for the Quantity. When it prompts, the default will be a quantity of one. If you use a bar code reader and scan all your items, then you should set this to No or Off. When scanning with a bar code reader, it will be time consuming to touch the keyboard in between each item.

Give warning when selling quantity not on hand? - This is usually set Off.  If you have a retail counter within your repair shop and the customer brings the merchandise to be rung up, this feature is obviously not needed.

Display price levels on Explode? - Some businesses do not want their clerks to see the various price levels.

Get item cost on blank line sale? - If you sell a "one-time" item - do you want to enter the cost as you sell it? If you don't enter the cost, your profit margins will be too high!

Allow editing of service cost when invoicing? - When entering a service item via the F10 Blank Line key at the workscreen or editing an existing service item when placed onto the workscreen.  Checking of this option allows you to edit the cost.

Show matrix quantities when loading? - As you sell matrix items do you want the quantities to be shown on the screen. Most stores do not.

Show Item script when loading items to the work screen? - If you have entered information in the "Item Script" area, this feature will automatically pop it up as the item is entered. For example, if you were selling printer paper, you might want to put "Ask the customer if he needs ribbons! " in the Item script, so as to remind the operator to look for the "add-on sale". Or, you might put technical information in the script, that operators can look at if the customer asks for more detailed information.

Require customer for credit card transactions? - If checked, this will force the operator to have a customer name on the screen in order to ring a credit card sale. If you are ringing lots of small sales, leave this box unchecked.

Hide profit margin data at the work screen? - If you set this off, then the profit margin for each sale will show on the work screen. If your clerks are paid on gross profit, showing them the profit margin can add a few points to your bottom line.

Serial number options - If you are selling 'serialized' items, you should try these out. If you are not tracking the serial numbers of the items you are selling, ignore this.

Suggestion - Just because an item has a serial number, doesn't mean you have to track it. Tracking serial numbers adds time to the computerization process. If you really don't need it, leave it off until you get your system going for a few months.

Check Vendor Inventory at Startup - Advanced Feature - This activates the Automatic Vendor Notification feature of the program.
